Monkeys in the tree.

I have monkeys swinging in my tree.  Our house is a center of attention at times.  When Heather and I are out sitting in the swing allot  of times neighbors will see us and come sit in the chairs we have and we will have a big conversation with everyone.  So while we are talking to the parents  there kids love to skateboard, ride bikes in the driveway, color with the chalk on the sidewalk and now the big attraction is climbing in our tree.  PICT0004

As long as no one gets hurt we  don't mind.  Heather and I are not going to be like old lady Benson that lived on my block when I was a kid and got mad every time we road past her house on our bikes.  Its not our fault that her dogs trampled her flowers every time we went by.

Windows Seven features.

Ever wish you could just tell your computer what to do instead of having to type it on the keyboard or move the pointer with your mouse? Will pretty much now you can. Back in the good old days of windows XP there was a program that was developed that could help you dictate words to text by using your microphone called Dragon Naturally Speaking. In my opinion the program was OK it did what you wanted it to do except there were a lot of words that it could not handle and that you had to manually type. Was also very expensive program to. While I was working for dell I spoke with many people who used this program most of them doctors and lawyers as they dictated their notes about their jobs.

With the new operating system windows seven, this speech to text program is now integrated into the operating system. All you have to do is go to the control panel and select speech recognition. Now Windows Vista has the same program. But in my opinion windows seven has made advances on it.

Now I am not going to get all techy and start saying things that will go over your head but not only can you dictate but you can command you computer with your voice. You can tell your computer to click the start button as well as opening programs, going online and hitting your favorite website as well as opening your email.

Now I just want you to know that throughout this post I have used the keyboard four times just to make minor adjustments the rest has been all my voice and I think that's pretty cool. So give it a try check it out you might just like it yourself.

I am free.

It seems that every ten years of my adult life  I get a nasty letter in the mail and I get  caught by “these” people, and for 3 months I have to sit on pins and needles wondering if this is the day “they” pick me and use me.   Let me take you back to last February of 2010.  I am at home, just started a new job and had been working at it for almost a month when the dreaded letter arrived.   Yes,  I am talking about Jury Duty.    It seems that ever since I became a registered voter when I was eighteen I have gotten these dreadful letters every 10 years.    I got the letter and read it.  It said that my Duty to serve would start March 1rst and run for 3 months.

My Juror number was 260 and I had to call once a week to find out if my presence was required at the courthouse for a trial.   The last time I was on Jury duty  I had to appear twice.  I was asked a series of questions pertaining to the case but I was not picked to be on the actual 12 for the trial.   This time, things were a little different.  If your number was chosen for a trial you received a post card in the mail telling you that you have been “chosen” and then you also have to call the phone number to get the date.  I received 2 of these post cards and both times I called the trial didn’t go through and I was pretty happy about it.

So why am I blogging about this  you might ask?   Well remember my Jury Duty started March 1rst and would last 3 months.  Today Marks the day that my Duty is over, and with my luck for the next 10 years.

Its Garden time.

So the weather has had its ups and downs and during the ups Heather and I have started our garden.  Heather is always great with planting flowers around the house but its this year we wanted to do something different.   We have decided to do a full fledged garden.

I got to tell you I need to get back in to shape badly.  We rented a Rot tiller from K&R rental.  Lets just say some times I had to hang on for dear life just so we could get the ground tilled up. PICT0017

In addition to brightening up our home and garden we have a newly budding blueberry bush.  At first I was wondering if it would work but low and be hold  we are getting fresh blue berries.  PICT0001

I am pretty excited about this summer as we will have a colorful yard as well as fruitful. We also have a nice assortment of flowers that will be planted an a large barrel that has been cut in half for a planter.PICT0002

I will keep everyone posted on how things go.

To be or Not to be a virus

That is the question that preoccupies our minds about computer usage and safety. So this just in today, McAfee, a world wide anti virus program for your computer had a big glitch happen. If you are a home user no need to fear as of yet but for large business and government users, well it wasn't so fun for them today.

As of 9 a.m. Eastern time McAfee released an update that caused the users computer to reboot constantly. The problem, The update mistakenly took a regular windows file and thought it was a virus and deleted the file causing the computer to freak out and not know what to do but to just reboot and when it came to that point that the computer needed the file to use again it freaked out and rebooted.

McAfee was able to send another update to fix the issue but they are not sure how many computers have been affected, could be thousands, I am sure all the tech support personnel was trying to calm people down after freaking out themselves about there freaked out computers.

So for all you who have McAfee anti virus on your computers just keep an eye on things and don't freak out. Until next time happy computing.
